This is an article that my mom just sent me... it really ties into what we've been discussing about having a healthy skepticism about conclusions drawn in the sciences.
The title says it all: "
Liberals and Atheists Smarter? Intelligent People Have Values Novel in Human Evolutionary History, Study Finds

Cool article. Can't help but think that it's a tiny bit biased though :D.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem like conservative people have way more kids than liberal people, so I suppose being conservative is "evolutionarily favored" (not, of course, that I'm favoring it).
So I wonder what the meaning of evolutionarily novel is (Besides the obvious definition). Good/Bad? I wonder how they judge "smarter" anyhow. They have IQ tests for adolescents who take a political stance, but (at least in my experience) adolescents are prone to indoctrination by parents and peers. And IQ tests don't seem that reliable anyway.
