All the same?

The article i chose to write about is about merging all forms of autism's into a disorder called autism spectrum disorder. If this change is to occur people with mild forms of autism, such as Asperger’s disorder, will be classified with people with much stronger forms of the illness. The reason we go further into classification is so we can narrow down onto a distinct definition of each illness we face, but giving them all the same definition brings us backwards as a society.

Dear Roy Grinker:

I propose that the article “Disorder out of Chaos”, be modified to include the reasons for keeping the separation between all forms of autisms and to name new versions of the illness to allow for an even further distinction between the symptoms.

One of the reasons as to why we go in depth into our classifications is so we can grow as a society in understanding the different types of disorders around us. If an aspect of the disorder is gone un-noticed for a person, then he or she may fail to be diagnosed and then feel alone since they don’t know what disease they have. This can also lead to people not getting full treatment for their disorder.

Sincerely,
