Michael Crichton's novel "State of Fear", is suppose to be a fictional book from his own imagination, but in the opening statements of the novel, before the book even begins he says " This is a work of fiction. Characters, corporations, institution, and organizations in this novel are the product of the author's imagination,or,if real, are used fictitiously without any intent to describe their actual conduct. However, references to real people, institutions, and organizations that are documented in footnotes are accurate. footnotes are real." This kinda says im writing a book to push my opinions on global warming onto you,and if you dont think how i think then your an idiot, and in the footnotes lies the proof to your own idiotic thoughts.
The book talks alot about the issues of global warming, and an organization named National Environmental Resource Fund (NERF)which is really similar to the Environmental Protection agency (EPA). NERF talks about how dangerous global warming is and if the people dont gives tons of money to them then they will all die. a little extreme, but kinda similar to how we support global warming laws and procedures now a days.

I think your write with saying that Micheal Crichton did have the friction statement then make his book a hybrid of friction and fact. Is there a particular passage that you found the friction statement in or a particular footnote you found troubling or just all of them/it in general?
