it is a a pretty generic global warming stance taking the "for" stance. On an unrelated note i always find it strange when people use the phrase "for" global warming. I know what it means but no one is really "for" global warming, just agreeing with the evidence that it is occurring. But that is completely beside the point.
The site takes a sort of simple scientific look at the evidence surrounding global warming. It gives examples across the globe of heat waves, ocean warming, and glacial melting in a very user friendly and simple way to understand. It does not however get into any intense science behind the reasons why they are (or not) occurring.
The site also goes into more detail into what the effects of global might have if it continues to occur. I did not see these as intense "scare tactics" or anything like that. The site never says anything like "we will all die if the planet warms" it instead says things like "mosquito have been waiting 9 more days to lay dormant in the winter than they did 30 years ago, which could cause an increased population growth, and possibly disease transmission." Hardly a scare tactic but more of a subtle warning in my view. They also give references to all data and results that they use on the site, which is nice on a credibility standpoint.
The overall argument for the site is in support that global warming in happening on our planet, but it does not take an extreme viewpoint that some tend to take now a days. It gives simple results found across the globe and what they could POSSIBLY mean not what they DO mean. IT does not pretend to know the future of the planet but instead gives outcomes of what may happen
Good post. The websites not-too-extreme stance I think makes people more likely to take it seriously and actually think about what is being said.
ReplyDeleteI totally get the "for"global warming thing. I think it's funny when people say that. But what really bothers me is when people from cold places say they would like some global warming in the middle of winter. It drives me up the wall.
ReplyDeleteBut I like this site too. It's a little plain, presentation-wise, but it isn't garish. It's mild like their stance to it. It's not in your face, and it's easy to follow.
