3-3-10
11AM – Pork Chops w/onions and red bell peppers, mashed potatoes, bottle of Dean’s Milk – Chocolate (Outside In Café in Moos Tower)
• $9
• Don’t usually eat this exact dish, but I eat at this place Mondays or Wednesdays before my class because it is literally across the hall from my classroom. The food is much better than what is offered at Coffman.
• Ate it at the dining area in Moos Tower
• The food is already made, and there was no waiting.
Noon – Bottle of Powerade = $1.25
• Bought this before class to drink. Need to stay hydrated, plus I didn’t want pop.
3PM – Grilled Pork Chops with rice, crab meat pie, cucumbers, lettuce, and carrots. Hazlenut Bubble Tea = $10
• I eat this from Quang Restaurant if I order to go. If I stayed, I would have eaten Pho (Vietnamese noodle soup). I usually go to Quang if I have a haircut or I am eating out with friends. I ate this at home.
• I got this to-go because my friend was unable to go.
10PM – 2 sandwiches (French bread, pork, Asian meatloaf, carrots, cucumber, paté), 2 bottles of water. 6 Girl Scouts’ Thin Mint cookies. Didn’t buy this, parents did.
• This sandwich is also from Quang. Pretty simple, I wasn’t in the mood to prepare anything, and I was playing Modern Warfare 2. I ate it at home. I usually eat late because of my work schedule after classes and then going straight to soccer for a few hours.
3-4-10
11AM – Famous Dave’s BBQ pork sandwich (Multi-grain bun, pork soaked in Famous Dave’s BBQ sauce), fries, and Vitamin Water Connect (Black Cherry and Lime). = $9
• I did not like what was offered at Coffman, so I decided to get something quick before my class in Moos Tower. I only had 30 minutes to eat, so I skipped out on the cole slaw and pickle spear. I ate this in the Outside In Café.
4PM – Can of A&W Cream Soda, One Fruit Roll-Up. Free
• Totally random. Ate this at my aunt’s house, watching my uncle play video games, and my 5 year old cousin asks me to eat with him. I wasn’t hungry, but I can’t say no to the little guy.
• Retrospectively, it was a good idea to eat it because I did not eat dinner until 11pm.
11PM – Mexican Pizza, Nacho Cheese Chalupa, 2 Hard Shell tacos, one XL Pepsi from Taco Bell. = $9.05
• After a soccer game, took it to-go. I usually go to this Taco Bell if it was late at night and I know my mom didn’t cook anything for dinner. I hate trying to cook something while I am half dead.
• The Mexican Pizza is actually something healthy to eat at Taco Bell, but I was massively hungry and I ordered the extra stuff. I got the X-Large Pepsi because the last thing I had to drink was the Cream Soda, and I did not have anything to drink while I was coaching in my soccer game.

Coming from a broke sale-junkie, this message is a little skewed, but you spend an astronomical amount of money on food! D: Don't take this the wrong way, though--I did a similar thing last summer when I couldn't wake up early enough to eat breakfast at home and generally met someone for dinner afterward.
ReplyDeleteIs this pretty normal for you? Is it a scheduling / time management sort of thing? Is it just easier for you to buy prepared food?
I haven't read much of The Omnivore's Dilemma just yet, but what I *can* tell you is that your diet is driven by corn...and you don't even know it.
Holly,
ReplyDeleteMy life is really go-go-go. I live at home, but a lot of things my mom cooks, I usually can't eat it because I have a weird stomach condition. Eating out is the quickest way to get food for me because I don't have much time to prepare it with school, soccer, coaching, and work. And if you're wondering - I pay for all my meals, not my parents.
This is normal over the school year, but during the summer, I make breakfast and lunch. I love how life is with what I'm involved in, and I don't want to give it up. Since I eat out more, I try my hardest to eat smart.
It's really hard for me to hear anyone say anything slightly negative about Quang. So delicious. Relatively cheap. Bun Chay forever!!!
ReplyDeleteSomewhat irrelevant comment, but I had to put a word in for Quang.
Pretty interesting diet, is this what you normally eat, or was this a special week. Love Famous Daves and Quangs.
ReplyDeleteYay I found people who went to Quang before me ever bringing them there! The whole class should go sometime!
ReplyDeleteMason - I don't want to say this was a special week, but I eat out a lot. The Famous Dave's sandwich is in Moos Tower, but I eat that like twice a month because it's right across from my class. I eat Quang like 3-4 times a month.
